On December 11, a concert by the band Chystyi Chetver took place at the Municipal Institution Youth Center “HIGH HUB” of the Vysokyi Settlement Council: https://www.facebook.com/share/1CtWg2Yrk1/?mibextid=wwXIfr, featuring Liza and Marian (the leader of the band “Pyrih ta Batih”) Pyrohy. This is a musical and poetic duo that focuses on working with Ukraine’s poetic heritage, in particular with the works of prominent, often tortured and repressed poets and poetesses of the Soviet occupation era.
Through sung poetry, they strive to “return voices to the dead,” to remind of the continuity of the Ukrainian struggle and the resilience of culture.
During the concert, musical works set to the poetry of Lada Mohylianska, Veronika Cherniakhivska, Olena Teliha, Myroslava Sopilka, Khrystia Alchevska, Oleksa Blesko, Mykola Voronyi, and others were performed.
And at the end of the meeting, works from the repertoire of Batohy were performed: “Shchedryk” by Leontovych and the legendary “Hai shumliat” to a poem by P. Tychyna.
After that, the audience had the opportunity to talk with the artists, ask about their creativity, the unusual guitar playing technique invented by Marian, and the principle by which poems are chosen for the band’s repertoire.
And when it was time for the photo and autograph session, Liza and Marian received as a gift from soldiers of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade the book “The Shadow of War” (photo-poetic album, 2023) by Leonid Lohvinenko.
And the Youth Center received the flag of the “Mara” Unmanned Systems Battalion and the “Frontline Kobzar” by T. H. Shevchenko.
Thank you for organizing the creative evening to the charitable organization “Artdacha” Foundation.
