On August 29, the following events took place at the OKC SmartCommunity:
- Group Psychological Consultation “My Body – My Business!”
- Art Workshop “Paper Cutting – Fascinating Creativity”
The youth discussed physical changes during adolescence and explored the question “Can people be criticized for their appearance, and how do we view our physical features: what do we find beautiful about ourselves, and what do we dislike?” The conclusion was that we should accept ourselves and others as they are, and if we want to improve something about ourselves, it should be for our own satisfaction, not to please others.
The art workshop “Paper Cutting – Fascinating Creativity” helped young people embrace their growing-up process and approach themselves with love, as our appearance is perceived by others in the way we present it ourselves.
Lisa, 14: “If I want to change something about my appearance, it will only be to like myself more, not because of someone else’s opinion or fashion.”
Vlad, 15: “I dream of the stage, am into music, and want to play in a rock band, so in the future, I see myself with long, lush hair like rock stars from the ’70s and ’90s. I like their style and want to follow it. Today, I am even more convinced that I am on the right path.”
The project is implemented by the NGO “Association of Youth Leaders of Ukraine” and the NGO “Youth Platform” within the framework of the USAID Ukraine – USAID Ukraine Dream and Act program, executed by IREX in Ukraine.
