Discussion of the film ’89 Days’ at the High Hub Youth Center: Meeting with the director, – NGO “Youth Leaders Association of Ukraine”

Обговорення фільму '89 днів' в Молодіжному центрі High Hub: зустріч з режисером, - ГО “Асоціація молодіжних лідерів України”

On November 17, the High Hub Youth Center hosted a screening and discussion of the documentary film “89 Days” by director Pavlo Dorohy, with regional coordinator of Docudays UA for Kharkiv and Cherkasy regions, Iurii Chumak, attending, and the director joining the event via Zoom.

“89 Days” tells the story of life in the Kharkiv metro at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The film depicts this period in the city’s history, which the director compares to a post-apocalyptic scenario from the video game Metro 2033 Redux, where the surrounding world is destroyed, and the metro becomes the only habitable space.

The youth engaged actively with the director, asking questions and seeking answers together.

Kai, 14 years old: “I love discussing films and books, and today I had the chance to do that with the author, which is very valuable to me, especially since this film shows how my peers survived in the Kharkiv metro.”

Yaroslav, 15 years old: “It’s my first time at such a screening. I learned about the Docudays UA festival today and would like to watch more films from its collection.”

The second activity of the day was the Dialogue Club. They discussed the question: “How to make the youth in our community friendlier?”

Through creative exercises and group work, they found potential solutions, including preventing bullying and organizing joint events to strengthen community unity.

The project is implemented by the NGO Youth Leaders Association of Ukraine and NGO Youth Platform as part of the USAID Ukraine “Dream and Act” program, executed by IREX in Ukraine.
