On November 27, 2024, the “High Hub” Youth Center in Babai held fun and engaging events:
- Group Psychological Counseling “Wet Noses – Fluffy Tails”
- Art Therapy Workshop – “Fantastic Animals”
The meeting was dedicated to World Pet Day, which is celebrated on November 30.
The event began with a thematic introduction (everyone shared about their pets).
Afterward, the youth actively danced to modern pop music.
During the counseling session, participants learned about “animal therapy” and its types. They discussed how animals positively impact both mental and physical health.
A surprise guest, Canine Therapist Archik with his pet mother Sofia, visited. Everyone had the chance to interact with him and treat him with dog snacks.
Participants then shared photos of their pets in the center’s group chat and told stories about their beloved animals.
During the group counseling, the following took place:
- Socialization of the animal
- Development of non-verbal communication skills, emotional openness, and cohesion among the youth. Some participants even overcame their fear of dogs with the help of Archik.
Even brief interactions with four-legged companions have a beneficial positive effect: improving emotional well-being, boosting immunity, and promoting the release of happiness hormones. These facts are supported by scientific studies!
The workshop was creative and thematic: the youth were encouraged to draw their favorite animal.
While drawing, participants reinforced the positive effects of the previous activity, visualized their feelings from interacting with animals on paper, and received feedback from the psychologist. Then, a vote was held to choose the best drawing, and the winner received a prize.
Sofia, 13 years old: “My dog, Yarchik, is my best friend who can support me when I’m sad and share in my joy. I was happy to bring him today to introduce him to other young people in the community. His positive psychological impact spread to all participants of the counseling session.”
Yarik, 15 years old: “I believe every person should have a pet. When you know that a little animal is waiting for you at home, it makes your heart feel warmer and calmer. It also teaches responsibility and discipline, because you have to take care of the one you’ve tamed, and I think that’s very useful.”
