🏆 On May 19, 2025, the “Generation Nika” Award ceremony took place — an award established in honor of a young artist murdered by rusnya, who was only 18 years old.
The winners of the award were announced on May 19, the birthday of Nika Kozhushko.
The award was founded by the Serhiy Zhadan Charitable Foundation, the Kharkiv Literary Museum, and the “Generation Nika” Charitable Foundation.
In the “Literature” category, the laureate was Liliya Polyvoda, an 11th-grade student from Sumy School No. 2. In the “Painting” category, the winner was Sofiya Fadeyeva.
In addition, during the ceremony, a Special Award from the Aza Nizi Maza children’s art studio was presented to artist Sofiya Syzonenko.
The event was attended by the mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov. Performances included Halyna Pechenizka, the Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Choir, and Zhadan and the Dogs.
We came with our youth from the “High Hub” Youth Center of the Vysochanska Settlement Council to ensure they are engaged in the cultural and artistic life of our country and understand the profound meanings of our time. The new generation must know who they are, where they come from, and what we are fighting for — sometimes at the highest cost, just like Nika did. Her decision to stay in Kharkiv, risking her life to develop culture and help in every possible way, was an act of self-sacrifice that we must be worthy of.
Wishing many successful years to the Generation Nika Award.
