On 27.06, this is how it was: KHARKIV REGIONAL YOUTH CENTERS FORUM “KHARKIV.GAMIFICATION”!
The Kharkiv Regional Branch of the NGO “Association of Youth Centers of Ukraine” brought together the most active representatives of the Kharkiv region’s youth sector to enhance their skills and implement gamification techniques in everyday youth work. Representing the Municipal Institution High Hub Youth Center of the Vysochanska Settlement Council at the forum were Director Natalia Pakhnina and Youth Center volunteers Yaroslav Tkachenko and Lesia Veretennikova.
How did this eventful day unfold?
We started the morning with registration, introductions, and a welcome coffee. The community immediately engaged in networking!
We listened to inspiring welcoming remarks from Oleksii Shapovalov and learned more about the activities, opportunities, and plans of the Association of Youth Centers of Ukraine and its Kharkiv branch during the presentation.
The main focus of this year’s forum was gamification. Two intensive practical sessions on “Gamification in Youth Work” gave our Youth Center team the opportunity to showcase themselves. Our youth camp project “Crimea Island. A Historical Trip” won the competition among the projects presented by our colleagues. Although it was only a simulation game, it taught us how to incorporate even more gamification opportunities into youth work.
As a keepsake of the victory, each member of our team received the board game “Kotomafia,” which we will soon introduce to the young people at our Youth Center.
Experience exchange: our team learned effective youth work methods from our excellent partners — Building Ukraine Together (BUR).
The grand finale: we ended the day on a high note with a concert program featuring Kharkiv artist Ania Kovalenko, Sashko Hubanov, and Kharkiv poet Mariia Kvitma, who performed readings of her own poetry.
We thank the organizers for such an interesting and much-needed forum in these times.
