Today, October 13, marked the first day of the meeting between representatives of youth centers and spaces of Ukraine and the leadership of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine — Minister Matvii Bidnyi, his deputy Uliana Tokarieva, as well as Denys Minin, Director of the All-Ukrainian Youth Center, and experts in youth work development from ISAR Ednannia.
The participants discussed the role of youth centers and spaces in youth policy, as well as reviewed the results of a study on the needs and challenges faced by Ukrainian youth centers and spaces, conducted by the All-Ukrainian Youth Center.
It was concluded that youth work faces many challenges: low salaries and burnout among youth workers, staff structures limited to three positions, and wages of around 6,000 UAH — all of which fail to motivate people to stay in these roles.
Another issue discussed was the lack of awareness and interest among young people in the activities of youth centers.
Together with colleagues, participants sought solutions and shared successful cases of overcoming these challenges.
They also learned about numerous grant opportunities for small communities and young people living in them, including those relevant to the Vysokyi community — valuable insights gained from this productive meeting. More to come…
The event is held within the framework of the project “Unleash Youth Potential: Systemic Strengthening of Youth Services”, implemented by ISAR Ednannia in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the All-Ukrainian Youth Center, with the support of UNICEF Ukraine and the financial assistance of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) through the German Development Bank (KfW).
