On March 13, 2026, our volunteer Roman Kolesnikov, as part of a team of volunteer organizations Svit Ta Ukrayina, NGO “Ya Vryatovanyi”, NGO “Troyanda na Rutsi”, and NGO “Yulia Nezlomna”, once again went on an evacuation mission to the Donetsk region.
6 crews were working, including three ambulances.
Over two days, 22 people were evacuated from frontline communities. The youngest evacuee was only 5 months old.
The evacuation took place from different cities and communities of Donetsk region: Kostiantynivka, Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Ustynivka.
The route was long and difficult:
Kharkiv — Sloviansk — Kramatorsk — Druzhkivka — Lozova — Poltava — Myrhorod.
But even after people leave dangerous areas, the trials do not end. The road turned out to be difficult: a punctured tire, car breakdowns, a vehicle that suddenly stopped starting.
One of the crews broke down already before Myrhorod — parents with children were in the vehicle. The team returned back, transferred the people to other cars, and helped them reach a safe place.
This is another story about the fact that evacuation is not just a road from point A to point B.
It is dozens of decisions along the way, responsibility for every person, and teamwork of those who do not leave people alone with the war.
We thank all the volunteers and organizations who were involved in this evacuation. Together we continue to work to save lives.
