Together with psychologist Yurii Chumak, on February 15 at the Youth Center, teenagers watched the animated film “Inside Out” — a Pixar masterpiece that supposedly “peeks” inside a child’s mind. The story unfolds inside the consciousness of 11-year-old Riley. Her life is guided by five basic emotions that live in the “Headquarters” and help her cope with daily situations:

Joy – the main optimist who wants Riley to always be happy.
Fear – responsible for safety.
Anger – monitors fairness.
Disgust – protects from physical and social “poison.”
Sadness – initially seems unnecessary and incomprehensible to others…

The film became revolutionary because it explains complex psychological processes in an accessible way:

  1. Importance of all emotions: The main lesson of the film is that Sadness is just as necessary as Joy. Without it, we cannot feel empathy or receive support from loved ones.
  2. Growing up: It shows how children’s vivid memories become more complex and “colored” with multiple emotions at once.
  3. Islands of personality: How our passions

The events take place as part of the “Skills of the Third Millennium” project, implemented by the High Hub Youth Center of the Vysochanska Settlement Council, with support from the Kharkiv Community Foundation “Toloka” within the “Community Pulse” project, funded by the Global Fund for Community Foundations.
