🌳 On Constitution Day, June 28, 2025, the All-Ukrainian Toloka organized by BUR (Building Ukraine Together) took place across Ukraine. This large-scale volunteer initiative brings people together to clean and improve public spaces.
The BUR Toloka is an annual tradition. This year, more than 1,500 volunteers participated in over 80 localities across the country.
Our Municipal Institution Youth Center “High Hub” of the Vysochanska Settlement Council joined the initiative for the second time, with around 20 participants aged 14 and older.
We chose the location of Zelenohayske Lake and the playground on its shore.
On June 28, the Toloka participants started the day with a group warm-up and introductions.
As the event coordinator Nataliya Pakhnina noted: “This year’s cleanup was held under the slogan ‘Zero Waste.’ Our task was not just to move trash from one place to another, but to sort it with the goal of recycling it as secondary raw materials. Our generation is already facing issues of waste accumulation and illegal dumpsites, and in the future, these problems, along with environmental pollution, will pose a threat to the survival of humanity as a whole.”
So — who if not us, and when if not now, should begin to care for the environment?
In addition to cleaning, the Toloka participants also worked on improving the public space — they refreshed the paint on the playground and trimmed tree branches above the structures.
Thank you to the Vysochanska Settlement Council for their support and for providing materials: paint and brushes.
Thank you for the delicious kulish to the charitable organization “Palyanytsia Kharkiv,” Nataliya Ostrovska, and Denys Ostrovskyi!
