The legendary “Slovo” House revealed its secrets today to the youth of the Vysochanska community during a tour organized by the Serhiy Zhadan Charitable Foundation and the Municipal Youth Center “High Hub” of the Vysochanska Village Council.
We explored the building from the outside and looked at the windows behind which Pavlo Tychyna, Nataliia Zabila, Mykola Khvylovy, and other prominent figures of the Ukrainian Renaissance once lived.
Then, in the memorial apartment of Petro Lisovyi, we learned fascinating details about the writers’ everyday lives from the tour guide, Maryna Kutsenko, and immersed ourselves in the board game “Slovo House,” which deepened the atmosphere of the 1920s and the lives of the writers of the Executed Renaissance.
And then a small miracle happened — modern writer Serhiy Demchuk visited Lisovyi’s apartment and read us his short stories.
That’s how the past and the present came together in one very famous house.
We thank the Director of the Serhiy Zhadan Charitable Foundation, Varia Chorna, and the Kharkiv Literary Museum for their help in organizing the event.
