Нещодавно команда ГО “Дружини ветеранів” розвозила продуктові набори та ліки для мешканців прифронтового Харкова. У місті, яке щодня чує відлуння війни, підтримка цивільного населення — це не просто допомога, це питання виживання.
Одним із тих, до кого ми завітали, був дідусь Петро Іванович. Йому 84. Майже не бачить. Півроку тому померла його дружина, з якою вони прожили понад 60 років. Єдина онука живе в іншому місті й рідко має змогу приїхати.
Для нього навіть вийти до магазину — вже виклик. Він зустрів нас у дверях, спираючись на паличку. Його руки тремтіли, коли він обережно торкався пакунків. А потім сказав тихо:
“Я вже думав, що всі про мене забули…”
І ці слова — нагадування, чому ми робимо те, що робимо.
Підтримка таких людей — це не лише про їжу чи медикаменти. Це про надію. Про відчуття, що ти не один.

Recently, a team of veterans’ wives delivered food packages and medicine to residents of frontline Kharkiv. In a city that hears the echoes of war every day, supporting the civilian population is not just about help — it’s about survival.
One of the people we visited was Grandpa Petro Ivanovych. He’s 84. He’s almost blind. His wife, with whom he spent over 60 years, passed away six months ago. His only granddaughter lives in another city and rarely has the opportunity to visit.
For him, even going to the store is a challenge. He met us at the door, leaning on a cane. His hands trembled as he carefully touched the packages. Then he said quietly:
“I thought everyone had forgotten about me…”
And those words are a reminder of why we do what we do.
Supporting people like him isn’t just about food or medicine. It’s about hope. About the feeling that you are not alone.
