The forest along Rzhavetska Street is breathing easier again.
On Saturday, May 2, at the initiative of local residents and the Municipal Youth Center “High Hub” of the Vysokyi settlement council, an environmental cleanup event titled “Let’s Make Our Forests Cleaner” took place here. The community united not just in words, but in action.
Unfortunately, forest areas near residential neighborhoods have suffered for years from illegal dumping. Bottles, cans, plastic bags, and household waste along the roadside are signs of human neglect that nature cannot clean up on its own. But this time, indifference gave way to responsibility.
Residents of Rzhavetska Street and nearby areas joined the effort, along with young people from the “High Hub” Youth Center and its director Nataliia Pakhnina. The result speaks for itself: more than 70 bags of trash collected from places that should have been filled only with trees, fresh air, and birdsong.
But the most important thing is not the numbers — it’s the people who chose not to ignore the problem. Because a clean environment begins not with large-scale programs, but with simple decisions by each individual: not to litter, to clean up, and to get involved.
The cleanup was a reminder: when a community acts together, change is visible immediately. Thank you to everyone who participated!
Cleanliness starts with each of us.
