Sometimes it’s hard to find the right words when you want to express genuine gratitude. Some things are difficult to measure or describe formally. That was exactly the case with the camp in Poland for children from the Kharkiv region, particularly for the children of Ukraine’s defenders.
We sincerely thank Stowarzyszenie „Idziemy na Spacer”, Sławomir Jarosławski, Piotr Pażucha, Patryk Urban, Andrzej Pietrasik, and Halyna Tretyakova for their care, attention, and incredibly warm welcome. For the children, this was not just a trip. These were days when they could breathe a little, experience childhood without sirens and alarms, and see another world filled with light, movement, and new impressions.
The children visited beautiful Polish cities – Warsaw, Toruń, and Płock. They walked the old streets, visited museums, discovered the history and culture of Poland, and enjoyed meals in cozy restaurants. For many, it was their first trip abroad, and honestly, the children’s eyes said more than any words could.
A special thanks goes to Mr. Sławomir. This was a moment that the children remembered particularly well. When some of them didn’t want to go to the water park, Mr. Sławomir didn’t let them be bored. He found another solution and took the children to the ice rink. It turned into a true adventure – laughter, falls on the ice, first unsure steps on skates, and so much joy – the children talked about it for a long time.
The workshops were especially inspiring. The children baked fragrant gingerbread, painted, molded, and created things with their own hands. In these simple, warm activities, there was so much that mattered – calm, support, a sense of safety, and pure childhood joy.
On behalf of all the mothers, we want to say the sincerest “thank you.” You gave the children not just a vacation. You gave them memories that will stay with them for a long time: days without fear, new friends, laughter, and the feeling that the world around them is kind and open.
We are deeply grateful to you for your compassion, your care, and for standing with Ukraine. This is truly priceless.
With support GO “Wives of Veterans”
