Happiness in the eyes and food on the table
Yesterday, our NGO “Wives of Veterans” team once again set out on the road to deliver food packages to those who need support the most today — our elderly residents of the Kharkiv region.
Each trip is dozens of stories frozen in wrinkles, and eyes that shine with sincere gratitude. In a world where modern challenges often leave elderly people alone with their difficulties, a simple food package becomes a symbol that they are remembered. You should see this joy! For many of them, our visit is not just about food, but a feeling that they are not alone.
Special gratitude to our reliable friends!
This mission would have been impossible without the support of the Rememberus.org Foundation, Igor Korsunsky, Julia Preshman Korsunsky, and Oksana Bondar. Thank you for the fact that for 5 years you have tirelessly cared for the elderly people of our region. Your consistency and kind heart are an example of true partnership for the sake of life.
What is the difference between volunteer aid and social assistance?
Many people confuse these concepts, so we would like to explain:
Volunteer assistance (like our joint initiative with https://rememberus.org/) is completely free and non-repayable support. Food and medicine are given to people as a gift, funded by benefactors. It is a sincere gesture of support from heart to heart.
Social assistance (state-provided) is the work of social services, where employees help purchase food or medicine, but do so using the elderly people’s own funds. It is a care service, not charity.
We continue our work because we believe: care is the best medicine against despair. Together we are strong!
With support: GO “Wives of Veterans”
