Art Therapy as a Path to Recovery

The NGO “Veterans’ Squads,” as part of a psychological support project, conducted another training for veterans and family members of servicemen. Our goal is to create a supportive space where everyone can safely work through their experiences and receive the necessary help.

In this session, we used isotherapy — a method of art therapy that helps reduce psychological stress levels. Drawing allows participants to express emotions that are difficult to verbalize, thereby reducing the manifestations of post-traumatic and acute stress disorders.

“Isotherapy is an opportunity to convey your own feelings through colors and images. When it is difficult to find the right words, a drawing becomes a kind of bridge to the inner world. It helps release tension, find strength for recovery, and feel that you are not alone in your struggle,” said psychologist Serhiy Usenko.

Such meetings not only help cope with psychological difficulties but also bring people together, creating an atmosphere of trust and support. We are convinced that through initiatives like this, veterans and their families gain the resources to move forward despite the challenges of today.

The project is implemented with the support of the KSE Foundation – the charitable fund of the Kyiv School of Economics.
