On May 6, 2025, the NGO “Veterans’ Wives” took part in a Meeting of representatives of public associations and charitable organizations.
The sole issue on the agenda was the discussion and appointment of a new head of the Department for Veterans Affairs of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration. This decision caused deep concern and indignation within the veterans’ community, which became evident during the event. We are determined and demand concrete actions from the regional leadership.
The main issues raised during the meeting were:
• the systemic lack of dialogue and mutual understanding from the leadership of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration,
• the absence of openness and transparency in the procedure for appointing the head of the Department for Veterans Affairs,
• the disregard for the opinions and participation of the veterans’ community in decisions that directly concern them.
THE VETERANS’ COMMUNITY DEMANDS:
• the inclusion of the veterans’ community in public administration;
• free access to information about the activities of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration;
• guarantees of publicity, openness, and transparency in all personnel decisions related to veterans’ policy;
• establishment of constant and systemic dialogue between KRMA and the public (in particular through public consultations);
• improvement in the quality of administrative decisions, taking into account the opinions of citizens;
• creation of conditions for full public participation in the development of important state decisions.
The veterans’ community is ready for constructive cooperation but demands respect and that their voice be heard.
