Olha Stepnykh, the wife of a combat veteran, embarked on an entrepreneurial journey with her husband in 2019, establishing a unique workshop specializing in the production of display cases and albums for military awards. Her husband, Oleh, a war veteran, was the inspiration behind this idea and initially gathered the necessary equipment.
“As my husband started receiving his own awards, we simply stored them in a drawer. I suggested creating something worthy for their preservation. Our workshop, located in the center of Kharkiv, miraculously survived the early days of the full-scale invasion. Despite all the hardships, we resumed operations after my husband’s closest colleague, call sign ‘John,’ was lost. While he was alive, my husband had promised to craft a display case to his specifications, but unfortunately, he never got the chance. This loss became a strong motivator, and in September 2022, we restarted production, creating the display case for his comrade—but gifting it to his parents instead,” Olha shared.
According to Olha, each piece they create blends design and craftsmanship, with deep dedication put into every detail, ensuring all customer requests are met.
In 2024, as part of the #єРобота project, Olha received a grant of 500,000 UAH to expand the workshop. This grant enabled them to purchase a vehicle to resolve logistics issues and brand it, acquire a more powerful laser tube, furniture, plywood, velvet, and acrylic glass, significantly increasing production. Within six months, they hired two employees, including a person with a disability.
