Taoism is an ancient Chinese philosophical and religious tradition that focuses on the concept of Dao (道), or the Way.
A workshop exploring this philosophical movement was held at the Youth Center “HIGH HUB” of the Vysochansk Village Council in the village of Babai by Marko Demidov.
Our visitors learned that this movement originated around the 4th–3rd centuries BC and influenced the culture, art, science, and worldview of China. Unlike Confucianism, which focuses on social hierarchy and duties, Taoism advocates a return to nature and spontaneity.
The conversation and discussion lasted about two and a half hours. Participants shared stories and personal observations on how the principles of Taoism can be applied in their lives. They concluded that although Taoism arose thousands of years ago, its principles remain relevant. It teaches us to accept ourselves and the world as they are, to give up struggle and excessive ambition. Taoism offers a simple yet profound path to inner peace, harmony with nature, and an understanding of the unity of all existence. It is a philosophy that encourages us to live naturally, allowing life to unfold spontaneously.
The youth decided to continue such meetings with discussions of interesting and relevant topics.
