On 29.01, career guidance sessions “Professions of the Future” and “Switching Careers” were held at the High Hub Youth Center.
Why are these topics relevant?
The world of work is changing faster than we can update our resumes. Today, the concept of a “degree for life” has definitively become a thing of the past, giving way to switching — the ability to radically change one’s profession at any age.
“Professions of the Future.” Where will demand be? Our participants watched a documentary film by BBC Ukraine on this topic and, during the discussion, came to the following conclusions:
Artificial intelligence (AI) will not replace people, but people who use AI will replace those who do not. The main trends are focused at the intersection of technology, ecology, and human service (where a robot is not yet able to replace a human).
The most valuable skill of the future is lifelong learning. This is the ability to quickly understand a new topic, discard outdated knowledge (unlearning), and acquire relevant skills.
Soft skills outweigh hard skills. The ability to learn new things over the accumulated body of knowledge.
The main conclusion: fear of change is normal. But in the modern world, staying in one place is a greater risk than trying something new.
The events are held within the framework of the project “Skills of the Third Millennium,” implemented by the Municipal Institution Youth Center “HI HUB” of the Vysochanska Settlement Council with the support of the Kharkiv Community Foundation “Toloka” within the project “Community Pulse,” funded by the Global Fund for Community Foundations.
