Defend your rights – change the world for the better!
The human rights education event on 08.02 at the High Hub Youth Center was dedicated to the important topic “Rights and Freedoms.” Human rights defender Iurii Chumak emphasized that the norms enshrined in the Constitution, unfortunately, are far from always implemented automatically in real life. They must be actively defended.
He also presented to the young audience a documentary film from the Docudays UA film club repertoire, “Hey, Shut Your Mouth!” The film tells the story of a young man named Serhii who, from the age of 15, has been fighting corruption in his native village of Hatne near Kyiv. His main “weapon” is documents and blog posts. He is threatened, advised not to interfere in “adult matters,” and one night explosives are even planted in his yard. However, Serhii manages to find allies among his fellow villagers…
During the discussion, young men and women talked about how even the voice of a young person can make a big difference. And when young people unite, they are capable of changing the world around them for the better.
The events take place within the framework of the project “Skills of the Third Millennium,” implemented by the Municipal Institution Youth Center “HIGH HUB” of the Vysokyi Settlement Council with the support of the Kharkiv Community Foundation “Toloka,” within the project “Pulse of the Community,” funded by the Global Fund for Community Foundations.
