The beginning of October at the High Hub Youth Center of the Vysochanske Village Council was full of events:
On October 1, we celebrated the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, and this year we invited the Head of the NGO “National Association of Veterans of the War for Independence” in the city of Derhachi, a veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian war, Serhii Zheriobkin, to meet with the community’s youth.
He shared his combat journey:
“In 2022, I was an ordinary Ukrainian who voluntarily stood up to defend my land. The war became my trial: battles, sabotage behind enemy lines, a long recovery after a severe injury. But I survived and returned to service — now I support my fellow soldiers,” said Mr. Serhii, who served as a scout in the 226th Separate Battalion of the 127th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
After the conversation with the veteran, the youth participated in a workshop led by Yuliia Bubela — a volunteer and active member of our community who weaves camouflage nets and encourages others to join. Participants created motanka doll-angels — guardians, which Yuliia will deliver to the soldiers together with her camouflage nets.
We bow our heads and remember the fallen, honor, and thank the living Heroes who defend our country!
