🎨 An inspiring idea to combine the Holi Festival of Colors with the psychological training “On the Waves of Emotions” came from the NGO “Center for Psychological Assistance ‘Confidence'” and the Youth Center “High Hub” of the Vysochanska Settlement Council.
This created a unique experience where participants not only had fun but also worked on their emotional state.
The main ritual of Holi — throwing bright colored powders (gulal) and splashing water — created an atmosphere of carefree joy and unity. The core idea of the festival is that when everyone is equally covered in color, everyone is equal. It encouraged youth to release their emotions.
Participants were invited to consciously use Holi colors as a tool for expressing and “releasing” specific emotions.
Energetic dancing and movement during the celebration also helped to release accumulated energy, while throwing colors at others fostered a sense of connection, empathy, and acceptance.
The spontaneity and unpredictability of Holi ensured complete immersion in the present moment — an essential element of emotional regulation.
Afterward, the participants created a vibrant collective painting using leftover colors on a large sheet of paper.
