This week, on March 28, volunteers of the East-West Humanitarian Hub together with Vladimir Prima and Alyona Goncharova made a trip to the Izyum region.
Volunteers went to the Izyum hospital to deliver humanitarian aid to doctors and patients.
Then the team went to the village of Borova.
“We are moving to Oskil. Once upon a time, there was a magnificent reservoir here, the bottom of which is currently overgrown with reeds and bushes, only in the middle is a narrow strip of the river,” says Oleksandr Yalovol, a volunteer of the “East-West” HAB.
In Borova, the volunteers faced the consequences of shelling. The occupiers launched an airstrike. One of the rockets hit the World War II memorial. If our volunteers had not stayed in Kharkiv in the morning, they could have just come under fire.
“We are moving on, we are almost close to the front line. At the last roadblock, they tried to send us to the left, but no, we went in that direction,” says Oleksandr Yalovol.
“Finally, they came to our defenders. “Departures” and “arrivals” from both sides sound very often. Fortunately, not in our direction. Bus immediately under the canopy so as not to loom,” he continues.
Volunteers brought a generator to the boys from the “East-West” Humanitarian Hub, because there is no electricity in the village. Thanks to our Polish partners PolandHelps for this opportunity.
They also handed over vitamin mixtures from Pavel Dovzhenko. Volunteers Alyona and Volodymyr collected a lot of goodies, products, trench candles, soft burdens and many other things.
“Next – a delicious lunch, then the medical girl showed us her small garden where she grows onions, radishes, sorrel. All around are traces of “arrivals”, one of which dug up part of the garden. In the yard there is even a bench with an improvised barbell, the boys keep themselves in shape. After friendly conversations, another hour flies by, and it’s time to go home. In Volokhovy Yar, we visit a local woman and give medicine,” says Yalovol.
“And, finally, the return to Kharkiv, over which enemy missiles are flying again,” he adds.
