We are spreading the holiday… through pain, fatigue, and endless anxieties.
For us, the women of the NGO “Veterans’ Squads,” these days are not about rest. They are hundreds of kilometers along the broken roads of our wounded Kharkiv region. They are packages that feel heavier with the awareness of how many people now need simple human warmth.
We are not just delivering food. We are bringing hope. We are bringing the smell of homemade Easter cakes to places where the air smells of smoke from the latest “hits.” Each cake in our hands is like a small prayer. It is a symbol that despite all the shelling, despite how difficult and frightening things are for us now, life goes on. That we remember everyone. That we have not abandoned anyone.
The heart breaks when you see the eyes of the people receiving this aid. In those eyes is all the pain of our region, but also a spark of gratitude that gives us the strength to keep going.
We are deeply grateful to the Rememberus.org foundation, and personally to Igor Korsunsky, Julia Preshman Korsunsky, and Oksana Bondar for being our support in this mission. Your help is not just funds for purchases. It is your helping hand extended to us here, in frontline Kharkiv. Thanks to you, we can buy everything necessary and show that we are there for each other.
Thank you for your trust. Thank you for feeling our pain as your own. Every Easter cake delivered is our shared step toward the day when silence will finally reign over Kharkiv.
We hold on. We believe. We work through tears, but with love in our hearts.
With support: GO “Wives of Veterans”
