On October 16, the Youth Center High Hub in Babai hosted activities focused on career counseling:
LIVING LIBRARY
MEETING WITH COMMUNITY POLICE OFFICERS Captain of Police Maksym Doroshenko and Major of Police Mykhailo Strok
“TO SERVE AND PROTECT” and GROUP CAREER CONSULTATION “WHAT IS SWITCHING”
During the Living Library, our community police officers shared their career paths with the youth, discussing what influenced their choices, their professional development, and interesting anecdotes from their service. These included detective stories, funny incidents, and valuable lessons that sparked great interest among the attendees. A discussion on preventing offenses among youth was also conducted.
Yehor, 11 years old: “I learned about the daily life of our police officers, the difficult yet necessary work they do for the community every day. It was nice to hear that our village Babai is one of the safest settlements in the community.”
The career counseling “What is Switching” provided insights into the radical changes in career fields during the war. Our lives have changed drastically, and we must adapt to these changes. Thus, times of challenges and trials can also present new opportunities to try something new and achieve success in this area.
Margarita, 11 years old: “I like helping people, and today I learned that this calling can become a profession. For example, one can become a volunteer and then a social worker to help others on a professional basis. If it weren’t for the war, I probably wouldn’t have thought about this. But now I consider such a profession very relevant.”
The project is implemented by the NGO “Association of Youth Leaders of Ukraine” and the NGO Youth Platform as part of the USAID Ukraine program “Dream and Act,” executed by IREX in Ukraine.
