Recently, Nataliya Pakhnina was invited to tell teenagers from the High Youth Center about the publishing business and various editorial life hacks.
And somehow it so happened that as a result we discussed the logic of building fantasy worlds, and how to work with the spelling of fictional languages (hello, Svitlana Taratorina and “The House of Salt”), and Romeo and Juliet, and how to write so as not to mess up
And… They are so cool, these teenagers
Educated online for 4 years now, with wartime anxieties on top of teenage anxieties, they are frank and open, they are sharp and a little funny in their sharp judgement.
Recently, someone wrote in a review of the book “Cosmos, Reception” by Mark Levin that teenagers cannot reflect like that. And I listened to the thoughts of 13-year-old Kai and got a kick out of the way she expresses herself, the way she undermines authorities, the way she chooses words.
It is happiness when everyone reaches out to ask about something or… or to tell the plot of a story that is just now being written…
It’s cool that children have the opportunity for such meetings. That there are people who choose such leisure for them with benefit… Because children are those in whom you should always believe
And also… How nice it was when one girl said that she came to the meeting because she was listening to “LitRevue” on the radio when I was conducting it!
