On January 11, another important step was taken in the settlement of Vysokyi to protect our residents during wartime.
At the Municipal Institution Youth Center “HIGH HUB” of the Vysochanska Settlement Council, a basic shelter was officially opened — a space where safety is combined with comfort and the ability to live, work, and gather together even during air raid alerts.
This project became possible thanks to the cooperation between the Charitable Organization “Coordination Humanitarian Center” and JERU – Joint Emergency Response in Ukraine, within a mini-grant program aimed at strengthening communities. Grant support was received by an initiative group of residents of the settlement of Vysokyi — another confirmation that grassroots initiative plus partner support equals real results.
During the implementation of the project, the following was completed:
- the premises were deepened and sealed;
- the electrical network was upgraded;
- a ventilation, lighting, and heating system was installed;
- a reverse osmosis system was installed to provide the shelter with technical and drinking water;
- furniture for seating and rest was installed.
The opening of the space took place with the participation of the head of the Vysochanska Settlement Council, Oleksandr Moroz, First Deputy Ivan Mykhailychenko, community representatives, project partners, as well as special guests — Serhiy Zhadan and the band Zhadan i Sobaky. Their presence added drive to the event and once again reminded everyone that culture, support, and unity are also our strength.
We thank our partners for their support. Together, we are creating spaces of trust, support, and resilience for our community.
The project “Support for Vulnerable Households and War-Affected Communities to Meet Basic Needs in Eastern and Southern Ukraine” is funded by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany (AA) and implemented by the Charitable Organization “Coordination Humanitarian Center” in partnership with JERU (Joint Emergency Response in Ukraine — a joint initiative of the international non-governmental organizations Welthungerhilfe and Concern Worldwide).
