We continue the group course “Self-Help Plus” (SH+) for veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war under the guidance of psychologist Serhiy Usenko. The second session is aimed at self-help during stress management.
Self-help is an important aspect in the life of every person, because it not only ensures psychological well-being, but also improves the quality of life. Thanks to such trainings, even during the war, it is necessary to learn to take care of yourself and break stereotypes that become an obstacle to seek help.
The main theme of the course is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which teaches that trying to suppress unwanted thoughts and feelings can only make things worse. Each session covers one of five key stress management skills. 10 veterans took part in the class.
The project was organized by the NGO “Wives of ATO Veterans” with the support of ISAR Unity within the framework of the project “Initiative of sectoral support of civil society”, implemented by ISAR Unity together with the Ukrainian Independent Center for Political Research and the Center for Democracy and the Rule of Law. The project is implemented thanks to the support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and with the financial support of the Ukrainian Veterans Fund of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine within the framework of the “WORTH: UNITY” program.
