The development of critical thinking skills and media content analysis is the first Media Literacy workshop within the project “Skills of the Third Millennium,” which took place on January 4 at the High Hub Youth Center.
Young people explored the mechanisms of attention retention in the digital space and played games, including “Information Noise.”
As a result, participants learned to identify the tools used by media to attract attention and mastered the rules of “digital hygiene.”
At the second session, titled “MANIPULATORS AND MARIONETTES,” participants worked on identifying hidden manipulative techniques in news and advertising.
They learned how audiences are influenced by hate speech, fakes, distortion of facts, and emotional pressure.
Practical exercises were conducted to recognize manipulators’ “hooks”: participants solved a quiz and took part in a quiz competition to identify false information and manipulation.
The events are held within the framework of the project “Skills of the Third Millennium,” implemented by the High Hub Youth Center of the Vysokyi Settlement Council, with the support of the Kharkiv Community Foundation “Toloka” as part of the project “Community Pulse,” funded by The Global Fund for Community Foundations (GFCF).
