As part of the promotion of intellectual leisure and the development of critical thinking, on 05.03 a series of meetings in the “Living Library” format took place at the High Hub Youth Center. Instead of ordinary books, readers had the opportunity to “read” the experience of real masters of the chessboard. The main goal of the event was to reveal the secrets of success, develop endurance, and present chess as an art of decision-making.
Meeting with the “Living Book”: Volodymyr Zhukov, chess coach
The guest shared his path from the first steps in the sport to the present day.
Volodymyr emphasized that chess is not only about talent, but above all a sport, discipline, and the ability to learn from one’s own mistakes.
Chess is a struggle of characters, where the board is only a field for demonstrating strength of will.
The second part of the event was devoted to dynamics and speed. Young people learned how to correctly record games, the basic principles and rules of the game, and were able to play “Chess Blitz”. Oleksandr Drachuk, director of the Vysochanska Youth Sports School, announced that a chess section will soon open at the High Hub Youth Center and everyone present at the “Living Library” will have the opportunity to enroll.
The “Living Library” format allowed each visitor-reader to ask experts direct questions and receive practical advice on improving their game.
