On November 16, our team from the Youth Center High Hub attended the Youth Policy Forum in Kharkiv Region, organized by Numo. The atmosphere was friendly and inspiring, filled with a sense of fruitful work and synergy with colleagues from various corners of our region, and the following events confirmed that this anticipation was justified.
The forum started with a presentation of sociological research on the implementation of youth policy in Kharkiv Region, followed by presentations of successful projects in local communities: Youth Center “GarDen” (Kegychivka), NGO “Development Together” (Sviatohirsk), and Zatopil Municipality (Zatopil). These showcased that even during a full-scale war, successful youth projects can still be achieved in our region.
A panel discussion with youth policy experts and authorities, including Oleg Kulinich, Viktor Nesterenko, Maria Bohayenko, and Yuriy Yuzich, sparked lively discussions in the hall. Even when conflicting opinions were expressed, new answers to pressing questions concerning the youth emerged.
Later, we participated in working group sessions on the following topics:
- Development of youth initiatives and NGOs in communities to enhance the capacity for community growth.
- Consolidation of SYP and coordination of joint actions at the regional level to improve youth policy.
- Strengthening the effectiveness of youth centers to engage the unengaged youth in communities.
Viktoriya Shevchenko presented the results of her group’s work and received an encouraging prize as an active participant in the forum.
We particularly enjoyed the following activities:
- Voting for the best events at the photo exhibition.
- A quiz on youth policy using the Kahoot! app.
The forum concluded with a very interesting and relevant presentation from organizations involved in Numo, including the Ukrainian Youth Centers Association, the Ukrainian Students’ Association, the Ukrainian Academy of Leadership, the Regional Initiatives Foundation (FRI), Build Ukraine Together (BUR), the National Scouting Organization of Ukraine “PLAST,” and partner organizations operating in the Kharkiv region (KhOMGO “Enlightened Initiative,” NGO “Ukrainian Professional Development,” Charitable Foundation “Coordination Humanitarian Center,” Ukrainian Red Cross, NGO “Street Culture Center,” and NGO “Social Platform MY CITY”).
We thank the organizers for this forum and our colleagues for the engaging conversations and productive work, hoping for new meetings!
