AFU Veteran Malik Kerimov Opens a Construction Mini-Market in Kharkiv Thanks to the “Own Business” Program
After completing his service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Malik Kerimov decided to start his own business — a construction mini-market in Kharkiv. To bring his idea to life, he used the state grant program #Own_Business, which provided him with financial support to launch the project.
With the grant funds, he created an outdoor sign with a scrolling LED display for advertising, purchased shelves and stands for construction materials, tools, and equipment, and bought a small-capacity delivery vehicle to transport goods to customers. Kerimov covered half of the vehicle’s cost with his own money.
The mini-market operates in a 120-square-meter rented space, with part of the grant funds used to cover rent. The store specializes in selling construction materials and equipment to both private customers and business clients.
“After my service, I wanted to stay useful in civilian life. I decided to open my own business to provide for myself and create jobs for others. Thanks to the grant program, I was able to purchase the necessary equipment, transport, and develop my business faster,” says Malik Kerimov.
Today, the construction mini-market is successfully operating — selling products, providing deliveries, and steadily growing.
“The main thing is not to be afraid to start. If you have an idea and are ready to work — the state will help. After that, it all depends on you,” the entrepreneur adds.
