“People say time heals. But during war, time is just numbers counting your loneliness,” says Valentyna Pavlivna, sharing her story.
“My husband was killed. With him, my whole world, my protection, and my support disappeared. I was left completely alone. When you are over 60, starting over is not a challenge, it is a sentence. No one hires you at that age, and physically I simply have no strength,” Ms. Valentyna continued.
Constant stress from shelling and grief age people instantly. War catastrophically accelerates time: the body gives up, chronic illnesses worsen every day. A person finds themselves trapped between weakness and an empty wallet. In such moments, food assistance becomes more than just food. It is a chance to survive a little longer when pensions are not enough even for medicine. And there are thousands of people like Valentyna Pavlivna — lonely, sick, forgotten by war, elderly people all around.
A deep bow to the organization Rememberus.org, Igor Korsunsky, Julia Preshman Korsunsky, and Oksana Bondar for finding ways to support the residents of the Kharkiv region. Your help is the life of people changed by war.
Thank you for not leaving people alone in this hell.
