The first job fair for veterans, “Work for Heroes,” took place in Kharkiv Metro. During the event, the Municipal Enterprise “Veterans’ Space ‘Plitch-o-Plitch,'” public organizations “PETERIOTS 1654,” “Kharkiv Regional Union of Freedom Defenders of Ukraine,” and “Association of United Forces” along with employers presented their vacancies and services for veterans.
According to the Director of the Kharkiv Regional Employment Center, Oleksandr Kotukov, more than 20 employers from various sectors participated in the fair, offering over 60 relevant vacancies with competitive salaries and social benefits.
The fair provided vacancies in professions such as lathe operator, painter, tiler, blacksmith-stamper, design engineer, electrician, economist, and others. Employment service specialists assisted veterans in creating resumes, consulting on grants for starting businesses, and explaining opportunities for training funded by vouchers.
“To date, 25 combatants and their family members have already received grants of up to 1 million UAH for creating or developing their businesses. I am confident that this year, the number of veterans wishing to start their businesses will be significantly higher. Overall, the priority of the employment service this year is to support veterans,” Kotukov noted.
Over 500 people attended the event during its three hours.
The event’s guests included representatives of the regional military administration, regional council, Kharkiv City Council, and the Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in Kharkiv Region.
